What the hell is a Hoo Daddy ?

The Hoo Daddy Cave Club started in a small central Indiana town. It started with a group of guys that hung out together, getting bored just having bonfires and sitting around them drinking, they wanted something to do. We had heard of a cave in Bloomington Indiana called "Buckner Cave", we also heard it was a wildcave and you could camp by it for free. Being young and broke and bored, we decided to go check it out. So we got our 8 star whiskey, threw some tents and blankets in our clunker cars and headed out on a 2 hour trip to the cave. When we got there, it was great people camping and it was like a big party, as we crawled thru the mud in the cave, we were amazed my the sites and the bats. We were like this is great! It got to the point that we were going to Bloomington every weekend to cave and campout. One night while setting around the fire. Fisherman Bill, took a big shot of whiskey and yelled out 'HOO DADDY" this was done by everyone as the bottle was being passed around the fire. So we named ourselfs the Hoo Daddy Cave Club. that was back in 1990. We do way more than caving, But you have to be a caver to become a member.

Buckners Cave Bloomington Indiana April 2010

The last few years the Hoo Daddy's have been flying all over the country mountain climbing, and caving. Then one day The Ranger, said we need to get back to our roots and do the circle again. I agreed, but I was also drunk at the time. So this last April we got the old crew together, and headed down to Buckners Cave in Bloomington. Thats where the Hoo Daddys started at. It had been about 10 years since I had been in that trash pit, and the last time I was in it, me and Scootie swore we would never do it again. But, the Dadds were heading in, and I was'nt gonna be left behind. I told myself that I would just crawl to the "T room" then crawl out, and start drinking. But something happened in that cave that day. I was with my crew, and we had done this cave, many times and it just reminded me of old times, when we didnt have a care in the world, and we could cave for hours because we didnt have any where we needed to be. I had guys in front of me saying "come on!" and guys behind me saying "Go Go!!" So I did the circle, either it got smaller or I got bigger over the years. We hit all the highlites, and got muddy and sore. On the way home, I was thinking to myself, as much as I hate that trash pit, I guess deep down inside, I really love it. So my thanks goes out to the Hoo Daddys in that cave that day, cuz without you guys I would of never done it!  ToeNail, Badger, The Ranger, Rowdy, and the Green Horn, THANX!!!!

"The Caves of Indiana" the book, DNR outlawed it, and I got it, um, cuz I am a outlaw caver. You need to know where any cave in Indiana is, just get ahold of me. DAR

My name is D.A.R. I am a outlaw caver. If you have ever broke the law to go caving or got arrested for caving you get the title "Outlaw Caver" not all Hoo Daddys are outlaw cavers, most are.

The Hoo Daddy's have yearly events. There has to be at least 3 Hoo Daddys for it to be a offical Hoo Daddy Event. We go to and camp out at the Indy 500, BrickYard 400, Madison Regatta, and the Moto GP. We also have a January Trip everyyear. We picked the coldest time of the year to go camping and caving, if you are thinking about joining the Hoo Daddy's you better be a Cold Weather camper, the January trip is not to be missed. Now if you do all the above events in the same year, You have got the "Full Meal Deal" in your back pocket.
